Bushwalking
The best way to explore the Grampians National Park is by foot. There are many walking tracks through the park - you may wish to walk for half an hour or eight hours! You are only limited by your time and energy. Visit the Information Centre at Halls Gap to obtain maps and information about the Grampians (refer below for details), phone Parks Victoria on 13 19 63 or visit the Parks Victoria website.Highlights in the Grampians National Park are McKenzie Falls, and magnificent rock formations such as the Grand Canyon, Elephant's Hide and Mushroom Rock.
If visiting in October, be prepared for a spectacular wildflower display.
Horse Riding
The Grampians Horse Riding Centre offers the full bush horse riding experience. Situated on the west side of the Grampians (away from the crowds) and bordering the Grampians National Park, it is perfectly placed to offer bush trail rides against the backdrop of the Grampians. Cameron McDonald has decades of experience in horsemanship and has horses to suit all abilities. Rides are offered morning and afternoon lasting two hours. The Grampians is recognised as a terrific location for rock climbing and abseiling. The Grampians Mountain and Adventure Company offers a variety of different rock climbing expeditions (Ph: 0427 747 047). Alternatively, enquire at the Visitor Information Centre for further details.Fishing
There is the opportunity for great fishing in the Grampians. Popular lakes for fishing include Rocklands Reservoir and Lake Fyans.Wineries
The Grampians is also well known for its wine. When driving to the Grampians from Melbourne you may pass through the town of Great Western, producer of Great Western sparkling wine.
